The hard part most vet viewers will have to come to grips with -- me included -- is that Stefano is aging, bottom line.
Even in "The Godfather," the elder Corleone became frail and his grandson inadvertently killed him with that pump spray thing. I don't think it's out of character for Stefano to become frail to some degree. Even this "Phoenix" has to deal with biology...
Yeah. Days has been really terrible at succession planning.

I think when you write drama just for the sake of it, you don't put any heart into your stories, and you don't give viewers a reason to care.

Everything with this story has been plot plot plot from the time EJ and Sami had sex. The characters themselves are meaningless, with no motivation, and the show rushes through most of the motivation and the payoffs. Why do Carrie and Rafe have feelings for each other? It doesn't matter.

It's just these very basic story outlines which sound brilliant on paper (Will is the new Sami, Sami is the new Marlena, Carrie/Rafe are some type of distorted flashback to Sami/Austin, Abigail is the new Sami chasing after Austin) and they just rely on this regurgitation of history instead of actually telling a story.
I think thats a lot of it. Wills scenes Friday might have resonated more because the show has played and replayed that beat over and over. I thought the Sami/EJ sex was a good moment to shake things up but other than Will there really is no impact. If we saw Rafe and Samis relationship troubles build or Carrie and Austins it might have all played better. And I don't sense any overbearing guilt from EJ not that I expected to.But Days is not the only soap guilty of this.GH and Y&R drag through stories and rush beats also. B&B just rushes everything. I think one actor said it, that the showrunners don't believe the audiences have patience to sit through some of whats being talked about here but then ratings now only seem to matter during sweeps now anyway.

Kristian Alfonso was HORRIBLE today. Really, I think her acting has gotten so much worse over the years. If you can't emote, please don't pretend to by scrunching up your face and trying to make your chin quiver. And the difference in capability between her and Peter is sooo glaringly obvious. I'd rather she take a clue from GG and just be stone-faced. I think.

Stefano being diabetic and them talking about it all the time, and having Kate check his sugar, etc., just makes him appear weak. Stefano is not supposed to appear weak. And now he's scared shitless about this secret. Blah. Makes me want to hug him and I should NOT want to hug Stefano Dimera.

The kiss with Rafe and Carrie fell kinda flat. The build up to it came off as friendly, not passionate. There wasn't any noticeable tension until they pulled away from each other and then it was like the actors suddenly remembered they were supposed to be playing it as if they were attracted to each other. I do think GG and CC have chemistry but the scene sucked. And they're rushing it, IMO.

PM was great today. AS wasn't grating, as she normally is, but still got on my nerves. Sami is nothing but a hypocritical bitch and I truly hope she gets everything she has coming to her. PLEASE let Marlena face her up. Nothing elaborate. It doesn't have to be. It can just be a couple of lines, but DH can make those two lines enough.

Jennifer is just...bad. Really, bad. She's like a fifth wheel in the mayoral story. I kind of like the competitiveness between EJ and Abe, and Nicole egging it on, but I don't like Lexie being all holier-than-thou. A saint she is not.

The hard part most vet viewers will have to come to grips with -- me included -- is that Stefano is aging, bottom line.

Yea, it's hard to see, but I appreciate that path more than the one another soap is taking that has a 70 year old routinely knocking out people 40 years younger than he is.

I'm not sure that I buy that Nicole and EJ's relationship is real. For Nicole to be that suspicious of EJ, and to be able to play the "power" card with others (i.e. get debate answers etc.) when she is portrayed as a person who is always on the outside looking in, TO ME, reeks of something fishy. I almost believe she is working with someone to eventually bring EJ down and has been for a while. I do think EJ has fallen for her though.

Please be gentle when throwing objects at me, thanks  :scared:

"Carrie is not the type of woman who cheats on her husband" -- says the guy who just got CAUGHT making out with Carrie, who was cheating on her husband. Comedy gold! That was like a dumbass LUIS line from "Passions." I like it a lot!

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMN. Sami rubbed having KIDS in Carrie's face. Fireworks!!!!

Gotta love Austin's reaction: "You and Rafe... were kissing?"
Yes, Leatherface. And that's why. Because you need moisturizer.

I thought there was a spoiler somewhere that said Stefano is 'horrified' by what he finds in his envelope. Did I just make that up?

ETA: Here it is:

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep -Stefano is horrified by what his envelope reveals.
I'm so confused. I thought the big secret was that John/Hope (aka Gina) are married. Are there two different secrets? Is that why there were two envelopes in the safe deposit box?
Yes. Stefano had something on the Hortons. Alice had something on Stefano. Instead of destroying each other, for some idiotic reason, they decided to seal the secrets into envelopes then lock them away.
That whole scenario is so weird. They are doing a shoddy job of selling this story to me.

Irony doesn't even begin to describe EJole/Abe&Lexi interlude. I just hope they (EJole) make it through in the end. They belong together...they are perfectly suited to one another...kindred...soulmates call them what you will and for once they deserve some happiness without any "sword" hanging over them or any third party to ruin things for them.

Ej needs to be honest with Nicole very soon before it's too late to save his marriage.
I really am enjoying the election storyline now. Finally, something to kick it into high gear! An Abe deception is so unexpected, so soapy and juicy! And you know it will have lasting ramifications.

Never thought I'd say this, but Abe Carver has become the character I most LOVE to hate!!!

Too bad I'm always late to the game, watching the show on NBC.com since work keeps me busy, and I'm a day late! But have to say: Sami, YOU'RE in the wrong. Rafe wasn't right to kiss Carrie, but your vows are through thick and thin, "for better or for worse." Ahem -- this is worse, bitch. Stick with him.

I'm a day behind. But enjoying the show...Loving watching Abe and Jennifer dig themselves a grave. Can't wait till Lexie finds out..Abe and Lexie will be dunzo!!!! And finally, Lexie can return to her Dimera roots. I really things that how things are going to turn out..

Also, enjoying this new twist in the Austin, Carrie, Sami, and Rafe storyline. Finally, something big happened..Looking forward to the Abby twist making it even more fucked up...

Enough about Sheri Anderson..I'm sure she would bomb as head writer during a second go around and disappoint fans just like all the other headwriters have...I don't think any writer can please Days fans nowadays..They are too jaded...I mean we had Hogan Sheffer, an amazing writer, and the majority of fans weren't happy.

Yeah. Days has been really terrible at succession planning.
I know he's aging, even though that's tough to admit. But if they want his health to be an issue, why does it have to be something that is in my face all the time? Give him a heart attack. And then get it over with. He's had fatal, unnamed diseases before and lived to tell about it, LOL. He could have a relapse. I guess what is toughest to accept is that diabetes is so real. Nothing about Stefano has ever been "real." And it's not that I want over the top stories again like the possession or alien twins or what-have-you. But there has to be a happy medium, right?
